Could your bad credit cost you a better paying job? It can do that and more, according to Jay Peters, owner of the Nevada based Zodiac Publishing Corporation (publisher of the Credit Repair Intelligence System and the Debt Free Bible.)
"As many as 60% of employers now check credit scores for at least some positions," says Peters, "the higher paying the job is, the more likely it is that the company will check your credit score."
Mr. Peters insists that the best step consumers can take is to fix errors on their credit reports and try to improve their credit scores before starting the job search. One single error on a person's credit report is enough to cost them a job, according to Peters.
According to reports, a large percentage of credit reports contain errors. Many consumers don't find out about issues until they have already applied for credit, and then it's too late. For this reason, consumers should be proactive about their credit and check their credit reports legally. All consumers are titled to one free credit report each year from each credit bureau.
Once the consumers have their reports, they should start the process of correcting errors and repairing their credit, according to Peters. "And it's more about sending credit disputes to the credit bureaus" Peters states. "There is more to scoring than just the negative marks on your credit, so you need to pay attention to other factors that make up your score such as credit utilization, for example."
The Credit Repair Intelligence System is designed to help consumers to do this by offering a well rounded approach to credit repair that teaches consumers to correct problems on their credit reports and take other important actions like opening new accounts and building a positive credit history in order to rebuild credit.
