June 12, 2011 (Press-News.org) On the 9th June the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) announced the outcome of their fast track review into feed-in tariffs for large-scale solar installations and anaerobic digestion. Consumer website http://www.uk-energy-saving.com has been awaiting this news since the end of the consultation earlier this year and joins in the widespread disappointment at the level of cuts to tariffs for solar installations over 50kW in size.
Hayley Jones, Web Marketing Director at UK Energy Saving, talks further about the decisions. "Whilst it is a small positive step that tariffs for anaerobic digestion have increased, albeit only slightly, it is very disappointing to see such radical drops in tariffs for solar installations over 50kW. This will not affect domestic installations but larger community schemes will certainly feel the pinch and these tariff reductions will undoubtedly result in less larger projects. This is at a time when we should be focussing our efforts on significantly increasing energy generated from renewable sources and, at http://www.uk-energy-saving.com, we hope that the review of all tariffs expected by the end of the year will not further harm the renewables industry by also discouraging small installations."
The new tariffs are likely to take effect from the 1st August 2011 for new installations (existing completed installations will be unaffected). For more information on feed-in tariffs for renewable energy installations visit http://www.uk-energy-saving.com where they have a page dedicated to feed-in tariffs at http://www.uk-energy-saving.com/electricity-feed-tariffs.html.
