World Progress Report with Joan Lunden Launches Series Covering the Growing Obesity Trend in America

World Progress Report concentrates programming on helping people lead healthier lives.

2010-09-18
BOCA RATON, FL, September 18, 2010 (Press-News.org) Obesity in America has become a growing trend. The World Health Organization (WHO) predicts that obesity may soon replace more traditional public health concerns such as under nutrition and infectious diseases as the most significant cause of poor health. In fact, according to Drugs-Expert.com, "At an individual level, a combination of excessive caloric intake and a lack of physical activity is thought to explain most cases of obesity. A limited number of cases are due primarily to genetics, medical reasons, or psychiatric illness. In contrast, increasing rates of obesity at a societal level are felt to be due to an easily accessible and palatable diet, increased reliance on cars, and mechanized manufacturing. As societies become increasingly reliant on energy-dense, big-portion, fast-food meals, the association between fast-food consumption and obesity also becomes more concerning. In the United States consumption of fast-food meals tripled and calorie intake from these meals quadrupled in recent years."

World Progress Report wants their viewers to recognize that treatment methods can be as simple as changing your diet and increasing your daily physical activity. Regardless of the chosen approach, treatment involves hard work and serious dedication. In most cases, people lack the sincere desire to follow through on their commitments to a plan. Fortunately, World Progress Report, with Joan Lunden, will focus on the companies and medical professionals helping others achieve not just their ideal weight, but also a healthier lifestyle on their Public Television series. "Our desire is to help others learn practical ways to lead normal, fulfilling and healthier lives," said the Executive Producer of the program. Please contact World Progress Report for more information.
