Interest in Laser Hair Removal in Southern California Increases

Dr. Richard M. Foxx reports an increase in the number of people interested in laser hair removal in Southern California at The Medical and Skin Spa in Indian Wells as the summer heats up.

2011-07-02
INDIAN WELLS, CA, July 02, 2011 (Press-News.org) A heightened interest in laser hair removal in Southern California has been reported by Dr. Richard Foxx, medical director and founder of The Medical and Skin Spa (www.medicalandskinspa.com) in Indian Wells. According to Dr. Foxx, warmer weather tends to result in increased popularity for hair removal procedures.

"People want to feel confident and comfortable about their appearance during the summer, because they are wearing more revealing clothes such as swimsuits or shorts," Dr. Foxx says. "That's why the interest in cosmetic treatments like laser hair removal or BOTOX Cosmetic in Southern California usually increases during this time."

Dr. Foxx uses the CoolGlide Laser made by Cutera at his medical spa for hair removal procedures. This highly sophisticated laser equipment is FDA-approved and can treat a variety of skin tones. In contrast to many other lasers, CoolGlide is effective on all parts of the body, including the face, legs, arms, underarms, and back. In addition, it can be used on more sensitive areas, such as the bikini line. Each session lasts between a few minutes to an hour or two, depending on the size of the area being treated. Usually a series of treatments are needed to provide the best results, but once complete, the effects can be permanent.

"The CoolGlide laser that we offer at The Medical and Skin Spa is undoubtedly one of the most effective methods of permanent hair reduction available," Dr. Foxx notes. "It's a simple, comfortable procedure that requires no anesthesia, no downtime, and has minimal side effects."

In addition to being well-known for his advanced laser treatments, Dr. Foxx is also highly regarded for his ability to produce subtle, natural-looking results when administering dermal fillers and BOTOX near Palm Springs and other areas of Southern California.

Richard M. Foxx, M.D. (www.medicalandskinspa.com) has been practicing cosmetic dermatology and aesthetic medicine since 2001. He is known for his skill with BOTOX Cosmetic, injectable fillers, and lasers. Dr. Foxx serves as a clinical instructor for other physicians, teaching them techniques for facial rejuvenation. His practice, the Medical and Skin Spa, is located in the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort in Indian Wells, CA.

When viruses infect bacteria

When viruses infect bacteria
2011-07-02
Viruses are the most abundant parasites on Earth. Well known viruses, such as the flu virus, attack human hosts, while viruses such as the tobacco mosaic virus infect plant hosts. More common, but less understood, are cases of viruses infecting bacteria known as bacteriophages, or phages. In part, this is due to the difficulty of culturing bacteria and viruses that have been cut off from their usual biological surroundings in a process called in vitro. Researchers from the California Institute of Technology, funded in part by the National Science Foundation, were the ...

Sun and planets constructed differently, analysis from NASA mission suggests

2011-07-02
The sun and the solar system's rocky inner planets, including the Earth, may have formed differently than previously thought, according to UCLA scientists and colleagues analyzing samples returned by NASA's Genesis mission. The data from Genesis, which collected material from the solar wind blowing from the sun, reveal differences between the sun and planets with regard to oxygen and nitrogen, two of the most abundant elements in our solar system, the researchers report in two studies in the June 24 issue of the journal Science. And although the differences are slight, ...

Faster 3-D nanoimaging a possibility with full color synchrotron light

2011-07-02
Researchers can now see objects more precisely and faster at the nanoscale due to utilising the full colour spectrum of synchrotron light, opening the way for faster 3D nanoimaging. This new methodology will provide for enhanced nanoimaging for studying bio samples for medical research, improved drug development and advanced materials for engineering. Using the Advanced Photon Source, a synchrotron facility in Chicago, USA, researchers from the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coherent X-ray Science (CXS), headquartered at the University of Melbourne, Australia, revealed ...

Key immune substance linked to asthma, Stanford study finds

2011-07-02
STANFORD, Calif. — Stanford University School of Medicine investigators have linked a master molecule of the immune system, gamma-interferon, to the pathology of asthma, in a study of mice. This somewhat surprising finding — the key immune molecule has often been assumed to steer the immune system in a different direction from the cluster of allergic disorders to which asthma belongs — could lead to new treatments for the disease. Gamma interferon's role in asthma has been fuzzy. High levels of this substance in children's blood seem to be protective against the development ...
