The experiences of mythical characters are brought to life at Ulysses Syndrome in Naples.

2010-09-22
NAPLES, ITALY, September 22, 2010 (Press-News.org) Anyone with an interest in Greek mythology should be sure to check out Ulysses Syndrome in Naples this autumn.

This display of underwater images is available to view from September 29th until October 18th and is sure to offer food for thought for any art enthusiast, thanks to its innovative method of communicating ideas.

It will be housed at the Museo d'Arte Contemporanea Donna Regina Napoli (Madre) arts space, with visitors also able to experience the stunning Project Room programme while they are in the museum.

Ulysses Syndrome allows attendees to retrace the steps of various Homeric characters, who were enticed by beautiful females on an island and attempted to stop them from returning home.

Travel listings site What's on When offered an interpretation of the exhibition's title, saying it suggests women can fascinate men without the "siren's singing power".

"Naples' Madre hosts an underwater exhibition by photographer Gabriele Giugni which revisits Ulysses' journey, blending aspects of Greek mythology with the reality of photography," explained the online resource.

The organisers suggested the feeling of wanting to explore the world while at the same time protect one's roots can be sympathised with by many people visiting the venue.

It is open every day from 10:00 to 19:00 local time, except Tuesdays when it is closed.

For more information on this event visit the Madre website or contact the venue on +39 081 193 13 016.
