Spreading The Seeds of Love in AuditionSEA's 5th Birthday Carnival!

New Couple Garden content update unveiled at the annual AuditionSEA celebration!

2011-09-16
SINGAPORE. September 16, 2011 (Press-News.org) The excitement was felt throughout E2MAX @ Cathay Cineleisure on the 4th of September 2011 as AuditionSEA clubbers sauntered into the cybercafe for the annual celebration that they had all been waiting for. It was the 5th birthday for AuditionSEA (www.AuditionSEA.com), a free-to-play online dancing MMOG (Massively Multiplayer Online Game)

Carnival delights such as free candy floss, airbrush tattoo and Polaroid photo redemption broke the ice among fellow clubbers and their friends and before long, excited chatter could be heard throughout the event area. Not long after though, the air grew tense as eight clubbers took their seats at the computer stations. As it was later revealed, they were the skilled mode-masters who were assigned the unenvied tasks of engaging other clubbers in online dance battles. The respective modes for challenge were Crazy Choreography 8, Crazy Choreography 4, Beat Rush and Guitar Mode. Fun and excitement ensued as challengers stepped up to try and defeat the mode-masters for exclusive premiums and cool in-game items.

In conjunction with the 5th birthday celebration, clubbers who were at the event had an exclusive preview of the upcoming content, due to be released today. Aptly named "Couple Garden", in-game couples can now strengthen their love and gameplay by creating a garden of their own, cultivating and harvesting crops. Single clubbers now also have a new reason to expand their circle of friends, in the hope of finding their other half in the game in order to enjoy the new features.

The Couple Garden mode is very similar to wildly popular farming games found on social networks. In this mode, couples will need to plant seeds, water them, tending to their gardens and reap the harvest when the plants are fully grown. The growth cycle goes through five phases, and like most farming games, if the garden is neglected, the plants will wilt, and couples will need some Audition cash to revive their wilted garden. To encourage couples to take care of their crops, rewards are given for their efforts, and upon harvesting, couples may even receive couple points and rare items. Couples who spend the most time and effort on their gardens will also be featured on the ranking system for this mode.

"We are delighted to see so many ardent supporters of AuditionSEA, especially those who turned up today for the 5th Birthday Bash. We are also happy to find out that AuditionSEA has remained one of the most popular dancing games in the hearts of our players," said Sherman Tan, Chairman of Asiasoft Online. "At the same time, we are very excited about the new Couple Garden Mode at the same time as this mode definitely brings a new dimension to engage with our gamers, as well as providing more opportunities for them to bond and interact through a common activity, which in this case, cultivation of their own gardens."

The celebration was a great success as seeds of love were spread among the clubbers, who walked away with fond memories, great gifts and wonderful prizes, and not forgetting the delicious birthday cake as well as the exclusive preview of the new, eagerly anticipated Couple Garden Mode! The neuroscience of decision making: Deciphering how the brain chooses and decides

2011-09-16
Although still a young field, research in "decision neuroscience" has exploded in the last decade, with scientists beginning to decipher what exactly is happening in our brains when we are making choices, whether big or small. In fact, early findings suggest it is possible to parse out the complexity of thinking into its individual components, and in the process determine how they are integrated as we ponder and decide. Recently, researchers in decision neuroscience participated in a discussion about their work and the genesis of this cutting-edge field. During the ...

Stowers scientists successfully expand bone marrow-derived stem cells in culture
2011-09-16
KANSAS CITY, MO -- All stem cells—regardless of their source—share the remarkable capability to replenish themselves by undergoing self-renewal. Yet, so far, efforts to grow and expand scarce hematopoietic (or blood-forming) stem cells in culture for therapeutic applications have been met with limited success. Now, researchers at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research teased apart the molecular mechanisms enabling stem cell renewal in hematopoietic stem cells isolated from mice and successfully applied their insight to expand cultured hematopoietic stem cells a hundredfold. ...

Ethnicity-specific reference genomes improve genetic risk assessment using whole-genome sequencing

2011-09-16
A group of scientists, based primarily at Stanford University School of Medicine, have introduced ethnicity-specific reference genome sequences in a study to be published in the open-access journal PLoS Genetics on September 15th. Their utility was demonstrated in analyzing the genomes of a four-person family and following the flow of genes, in particular those associated with disease risk, from one generation to the next. The researchers augmented the widely-used human reference genome, the result of the Human Genome Project. This reference genome lacks the most common ...

Genomic catastrophe causes developmental delay, cognitive disorders

2011-09-16
HOUSTON -- (Sept. 16, 2011) – Using a diversity of DNA sequencing and human genome analytic techniques, researchers led by Baylor College of Medicine have identified some cases of developmental delay or cognitive disorders associated with a sudden chromosomal catastrophe that occurred early in development, perhaps during cell division when DNA is replicated. In a report in the journal Cell, Dr. Weimin Bi, assistant professor of molecular and human genetics, Dr. James R.Lupski, vice chair of molecular and human genetics, both at BCM, first author Pengfei Liu, a graduate ...

Mom, dad and kids undergo novel genome analyses for medical risks in new Stanford study

2011-09-16
STANFORD, Calif. — Stanford University School of Medicine researchers have predicted the inherited health risks of a four-person family by analyzing their whole genome sequences. With the DNA sequences of both parents and children, the team was able to better check for sequencing errors and more accurately predict how individual genetic variants affect each family member's risk for disease. The project improved computational tools that provide medical interpretation of genomes, which includes disease-risk prediction and how an individual would respond to common medications. ...
