Gap Adventures Celebrates United Nations World Tourism Day & Hosts an Evening to Raise Awareness of Sustainable Tourism

World's leading sustainable tourism and travel experts converge to discuss the future of tourism

TORONTO, ON, September 16, 2011 (Press-News.org) On Tuesday, September 27, 2011, United Nations World Tourism Day - a day dedicated to fostering awareness of tourism's importance, Gap Adventures will host an evening of discussion and debate to raise awareness of sustainable tourism. The event, Future of Tourism, will feature a creative exchange between visionaries from a celebrated panel of industry experts.

"Tourism is one of the largest industries on earth. It is worth $6 trillion, generates 9.1% of the world GDP, and supports more than 258 million jobs worldwide. Furthermore, tourism is the fundamental lifeline and vital to the livelihood of countless countries globally," says Bruce Poon Tip, Gap Adventures' founder. "It possesses the power to stimulate and strengthen economies, create employment opportunities and foster financial security, in addition to battling poverty and building a stable future."

The event will be held at Toronto's Winter Garden Theatre at 189 Yonge Street. It will be attended by travellers, agents and members of the public, UNF and GSTC. Doors open at 7pm and the presentation begins at 7:30pm. Admission is free and attendees will be encouraged to "pay what you feel it's worth". All proceeds will benefit Planeterra.

Seating is limited and admission is first come, first served. Everyone is welcome. For our global community and those who cannot attend, the event will also be webcast live.
