Canada Primed To Lead Global Cloud Computing Market With Launch Of The Canadian Cloud Best Practices Council

Canada is primed and ready to lead the global market in Cloud Computing technologies with the launch of the newly established Canadian Cloud Best Practices Council.

2011-10-19
EDMONTON, AB, October 19, 2011 (Press-News.org) October 17, 2011. Canada is primed and ready to lead the global market in Cloud Computing technologies with the launch of the newly established Canadian Cloud Best Practices Council.

With a mission of 'A Call To Action - Awakening Canada's Cloud Agenda', the Council is bringing together the nation's leading Cloud experts from across public and private sectors into a dream team who are working together to make Canada a leader in this exploding global opportunity.

Keynote public sector executives including Jirka Danek, CIO at Shared Services Canada and Chris Moore, CIO City of Edmonton, are joining forces with their counterparts from industry powerhouse firms Microsoft, Deloitte, Open Nebula, and others to define an agenda underpinning Canada's rich history of being an 'Innovation Nation'.

Robert Hart, the Council's Chairman and Founder notes, "Cloud computing is a rapidly evolving and growing business segment and Canada is in a unique position to lead technology innovation, development, convergence and adoption. The Cloud Council gives Canada the opportunity to overcome its renowned 'innovation crisis' by enabling the industry to quickly commercialize valuable new technology inventions, strengthen Canadian companies and accelerate new venture start-ups to stimulate economic growth."

Neil McEvoy, founder of the global Cloud Best Practices Network (cloudbestpractices.info) and Council VP Marketing and Communications, says that Canada was chosen to develop the world's first 'Cloud Council' because the Canadian Government is perfectly structured to encourage technology innovation. Canada has the highest concentration of talent, technology and opportunity compared to the rest of the world, and is best placed to take the global lead.

The Cloud Council will aim to define best practices for the Canadian Cloud industry, raise awareness and encourage accelerated adoption of the technologies, working with municipal, provincial and federal governments to create demand for innovative product and service development, and defining standards for auditing and transition to the Cloud.

By building innovation R&D programs covering topics such as data security and privacy the Cloud Council will provide Canada the foundation to incubate new technology firms that have the potential to scale well beyond Canada and become the billion dollar firms of tomorrow.

ABOUT THE CANADIAN CLOUD BEST PRACTICES COUNCIL

The Canadian Cloud Best Practices Council (www.canadacloudcouncil.biz/cloud-best-practices-council) was established in 2011 as an educational forum for Canada's cloud computing thought leaders and consumer advocates.

Although cloud computing is widely recognized as one the most influential movements in the history of IT, it has been slow to adopt in Canada. Our annual conference will discuss how cloud computing technologies can be applied to achieve business transformation while mitigating proprietary barriers to entry.

While seeking to define intelligent and innovative methods of enterprise cloud design and service delivery, the Canadian Cloud Best Practices Council aims to accelerate the speed of cloud adoption and utilization in Canada.

Our first annual Cloud Summit is taking place on March 12, 2012 in Edmonton, Alberta. The theme of the conference is "A CALL TO ACTION - AWAKENING CANADA'S CLOUD AGENDA" featuring an inaugural presentation by Chris Moore, CIO at City of Edmonton.
