Hepatitis B Foundation Adds New Members to Board of Directors

National Nonprofit Dedicated to Hepatitis B Approves Distinguished Leaders to Board

DOLYESTOWN, PA, February 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Hepatitis B Foundation (www.hepb.org), the only national nonprofit organization solely dedicated to finding a cure for hepatitis B and improving the quality of life for those affected worldwide through research, education and patient advocacy, is pleased to announce the recent addition of three members to its Board of Directors. The new members include Fox Rothschild LLP Partner, Loren Danzis, Esq.; President and CEO of Modern Group Ltd., David E. Griffith; and Professor of Life Sciences in Princeton University's Department of Molecular Biology, Dr. Thomas Shenk.

Recent additions to the Foundation's Board of Directors over the last 18 months have also included The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Assistant Vice President and Corporate Controller, Joseph Hediger; Johnson & Johnson Senior Director, Corporate Office of Science & Technology, Dr. Robert Zivin; and Safeguard Scientifics Inc. Executive Vice President and Managing Director, James A. Datin.

"We are pleased to begin 2012 with the addition of these outstanding corporate and scientific leaders to our distinguished Board of Directors," stated Hepatitis B Foundation Executive Director and Co-founder, Joan Block. "We look forward to their contributions in our efforts to bring hope through our research and outreach programs to the 400 million people worldwide who suffer from hepatitis B."

Danzis is a partner in Fox Rothschild's corporate department. He focuses his practice on venture capital transactions, acquisitions and commercial contract negotiations. An experienced venture capital investor, Danzis is the founder of Delaware Crossing Investor Group, a network of angel investors operating in the Philadelphia and Princeton, N.J. regions. He also routinely represents companies seeking investors. Danzis is a resident of Doylestown, Pa.

Griffith has stood at the helm of Bristol, Pa.-based Modern Group Ltd. since 1992. One of the nation's largest industrial distributors, Modern employs approximately 350 individuals and conducts business in four states. A director of the company, Griffith has also served as president of the Material Handling Equipment Dealers Association, and is a current director of the National Association of Wholesales Institute of Distribution Excellence and the Philadelphia World Affairs Council, among numerous other industry and charitable appointments. Griffith resides in New Hope, Pa.

Shenk is an internationally renowned virologist who is the James A. Elkins Professor of Life Sciences in Princeton University's Department of Molecular Biology, Shenk's current research focus includes the dissection of cytomegalovirus gene functions, persistence and latency. He served as chair of Princeton's Department of Molecular Biology for two terms and currently serves on the boards of the Fox Chase Cancer Center and Origen Therapeutics. After serving on Merck & Co.'s Board of Directors for 11 years, he just stepped down this month. Shenk is a resident of Princeton, N.J.
