ASTORIA, NY, April 10, 2012 (Press-News.org) "This is cool: KCRW is bringing their KCRW DJs from off of the air and onto our computer screens with The Cue... Keep your eyes on it!" LA I'm Yours
"This is old-school music curation (radio) mashed up with new-school delivery (on-demand streaming) — and it's not using Spotify; it's using YouTube." Evolver.fm
KCRW (89.9FM and KCRW.com) continues to expand its digital presence with the release of new episodes in its online video series The Cue on YouTube. Each episode features a selection of music and culture videos from across the web, curated and hosted by the station's talented family of DJs.
In his most recent episode, Music Director Jason Bentley returns to the Cue to share his new music video hot sheet, featuring latest favorites the likes of Jack White, The Shins, M. Ward, Nada Surf. He also introduces many of us to a new favorite artist Ane Brun.
The Cue launched in February with an introduction by Bentley, who shared under-the-radar online ephemera and his favorite Morning Becomes Eclectic performances in the first two episodes.
Newly-released episodes include a selection of criminally overlooked gems from Eric J Lawrence, a dip into LA's club scene with DJ Valida, quintessential California songs from Anne Litt, and visually inspiring sounds from Anthony Valadez. Raul Campos tipped viewers off to videos of young celebrities before they were famous and Marion Hodges presented some "not-so-obvious" 80's videos that she still likes to revisit.
In upcoming episodes of The Cue, Lawrence asks viewers to come along for the ride as he surveys classic videos from his musical youth while Gary Calamar, who is an award-winning music supervisor in addition to his on air gig at KCRW, stops by to share a selection of memorable music moments in film history. Last but not least, Bentley goes behind-the-scenes at the station's Santa Monica studios.
