CHICAGO, IL, May 17, 2012 (Press-News.org) The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) will be hosting the most extensive cadaver workshop in the Academy's history. New and Established Techniques in Breast and Body Contouring will be held June 21-23 at the prestigious Practical Anatomy & Surgical Center training facility at Saint Louis University. The hands-on cadaver workshop allows for an intensive training and development experience affording participants the unique opportunity to work one-on-one with top authorities in these areas of cosmetic surgery.
"Our upcoming cadaver workshop is a perfect example of the kind of high quality, leading-edge continuing medical education that the AACS is known for," states Dr. Gerald Edds, AACS President. "It's the ideal training experience - the top experts in the world sharing their knowledge in an intimate state-of-the-art setting combined with extensive hands-on cadaver practice."
World-renowned faculty in cosmetic surgery will train attendees on both new and established techniques in cosmetic breast, body and reconstructive surgery including breast augmentation, mastopexy, reduction and reconstruction. Body contouring including avelar abdominoplasty, belt lipectomy, buttock lifts, implants, thigh lifts and bracheoplasty will also be presented. Presentations will place an emphasis on complications, patient safety and treatment.
In addition, renowned keynotes speakers, Drs. Harold Bafitis and Thomas L. Jackson, will present two leading-edge procedures in the field of body and breast contouring. Dr. Bafitis will be sharing his Bafitis Integrated Liposculpture Abdominoplasty (BILA) technique which improves the results on circumferential liposculpture with a marked decrease in downtime. And Dr. Jackson will impart his extensive knowledge and experience on breast reconstruction after a mastectomy, including his ground-breaking nipple-saving technique.
"The hands-on cadaver workshop model is truly a unique learning opportunity," says Keynote Speaker Dr. Harold Bafitis. "There is a low risk in training, and the training itself has the potential to yield impressive outcomes for the attendee with its combination of stimulating, dynamic lectures and practical, hand-on experience."
Each day is focused on one area of cosmetic surgery with hands-on cadaver work incorporated into the second half of the day. Day one focuses on Breast Augmentation and Mastoplexy; day two on Breast Reduction and; day three on Body Contouring. Attendees can register for their choice of breast, body or both workshops.
This three-day cadaver dissection workshop will be held at Saint Louis University, a world-class educational venue with a state-of-the-art laboratory and presentation capability. This facility serves as the ideal setting for this intensive hands-on continuing medical education offering.
