Haidee Tiffen and Dean Flyger Take Over the Auckland Hearts

The Auckland Hearts cricket team will have two new faces at the helm this season with Haidee Tiffen announced as coach and Dean Flyger named as her assistant.

2012-07-19
AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND, July 19, 2012 (Press-News.org) The pair will be looking to continue on from where departing duo Maia Lewis and Katrina Keenan left off in leading the Hearts to the Action Cricket Cup title and the Action Cricket Twenty20 final in 2011/12.

Tiffen needs little introduction as one of the White Ferns all-time greats and former captain, amassing over 3000 runs for the White Ferns in nearly 130 games in a 12 year international career.

She now teaches in Auckland at Kelston Girls High School and the school connection will be strong within the Hearts this season as her assistant coach will be Dean Flyger from Westlake Girls High School.

Flyger has been in charge of the Women's U21 team for the last three years and has guided them to a hat-trick of titles before becoming directly involved with the Hearts last season.

Tiffen is excited about being involved with the Hearts this season and working with some of the young talent that Auckland has to offer.

"I was really impressed by the way the Hearts played last season and I think there is a really good talent base to work from with a great crop of young players coming through. I'm looking forward to working with them all and hoping to continue the success that they tasted last season."

The two women's competitions, the Action Cricket Cup and the Action Cricket Twenty20, kick off in December and conclude in January.
