NEW YORK, NY, July 20, 2012 (Press-News.org) Ever since the Supreme Court made the historic decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act--known to many simply as "Obamacare"--the decision has dominated conversations across the country, ultimately drawing mixed opinions. Many individuals feel passionately about the issue, and are often divided along partisan lines. Entire industries, meanwhile, have responded, either favorably or worriedly, to the decision. The Wall Street Journal notes that reaction among drug and medical companies has been largely uniform, and largely positive, despite the prospect of fees and price cuts--an observation confirmed by a new press statement from specialty medical company QMedRx, Inc.
According to the Journal, medical companies stand to face tens of billions of dollars in fees and price cuts. Surprisingly, though, the pharmaceutical industry is, by and large, very supportive of the Obamacare decision. The Journal reports that these medical companies derive a sense of "certainty" from the decision.
The Journal notes that many drug companies have supported the Affordable Care Act from the get-go, and are enthused about the prospect of more and more patients being able to afford their medications. "The pharmaceutical industry largely supported the 2010 overhaul, which will help millions more Americans afford companies' medicines by adding them to the rolls of the insured," the article states. "Drug makers have been preparing for the insurance expansion set to take effect in 2014."
One health care company, the Florida-based specialty pharmacy QMedRx, Inc., has responded to the Obamacare ruling with a press statement. According to the QMedRx statement, healthcare reform is simply something that benefits patients--as well as the industry itself.
"With an increased patient population for health care providers, it is imperative to begin connecting the fragmented health care system we live in," says the QMedRx statement. The statement goes on to note that healthcare reform is particularly good for those companies, like QMedRx, that specialize in in-home care. "The ability to coordinate health care services in the home environment, for instance, helps to reduce the chance of reinfection and costly rehospitalizations."
Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal suggests that even the market itself testifies to the confidence drug companies feel with regard to the newly approved healthcare act. "Pharmaceutical shares fell 0.8% in Thursday afternoon trading, less than the 1.1% drop for the Dow Jones Industrial Average as a whole," the article reports, noting that the day of the Supreme Court's decision did little to adversely affect the pharmaceutical industry's bottom line.

Summer for Students
2012-07-20
University is expensive. The National Union of Students puts average annual living costs at around GBP16,000 a year - and that's excluding fees, which are set to rise to as much as GBP9,000 per year from this September. It's hardly surprising, then, that so many students are forced to work during the summer holidays or part-time during the academic term to support themselves financially.
And in difficult economic times, when jobs are hard to come by, most student workers can't afford to be too picky. Typical employment often includes manning a supermarket check-out, ...
