NEW YORK, NY, August 21, 2012 (Press-News.org) For golfers, the PGA Championship is a unique opportunity to compete and showcase one's athletic abilities. For fans, this event is a rare chance to witness top players come together to face challenging courses. In a recent Charleston Regional Business Journal article, the city of Charleston, South Carolina planned to welcome leading athletes and loyal spectators; most of all, it was a chance to demonstrate the tourism the city could offer to international residents. As a loyal resident of Charleston, Sam Mustafa comments on the opportunity the PGA Championship brought to the city.
In 2008, Sam Mustafa founded the Charleston Hospitality Group--an organization that has grown into a successful business that highlights transportation, nightlife, dining and events in the coastal area. As part of a campaign to showcase Charleston in a positive light, House Speaker Bobby Harrell announced an advertising campaign that was broadcasted in more than 120 nations prior to the championship; four of the ads were tailored specifically to attract international visitors to the region. He commented, "Our opportunity to put South Carolina and Charleston into a light, an incredibly positive light for the world to see, is literally at our doorstep over the next couple days."
According to the article the tournament took place at Kiawah Island Golf Resort--one of the most difficult courses in the U.S. Although the venue remained a center of attention as spectators gathered in Charleston, Roger Warren, president of Kiawah Island Golf Resort and general chairman of the 2012 PGA Championship aimed to highlight Charleston's ability to accommodate visitors. He stated, "When you look at why people travel, it's about how they are treated. What happens in Charleston every day is a level of service that is unprecedented. It's not something you teach, it's natural. It's what you are."
In response to Warren's observations, Sam Mustafa of Charleston shares much of the same sentiments about the city. Through his work Sam Mustafa was able to observe the impact the outreach made and comments, "The PGA Championship brought national attention to Charleston; hotels were booked throughout the area. All six of Charleston Hospitality Group's locations were affected by the traffic flow of spectators going to Kiawah for the Championship. We hope that visitors stick around and visit again to enjoy all that Charleston has to offer throughout their visit."
ABOUT:
Sam Mustafa founded the Charleston Hospitality Group in 2008 as a resource to provide residents and tourists with the best in food, nightlife, catering and transportation available in Charleston, South Carolina.
