The Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild Names Mary Ann Scherr As Guest Presenter

National Museum Of Women In The Arts "Lifetime Achievement" Award Recipient To Present At Annual Show Nov. 25 In Raleigh

RALEIGH, NC, August 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild (http://www.carolinadesignercraftsmen.com) has announced that Mary Ann Scherr, among others, will be a guest presenter on Sunday, Nov. 25 at the 43rd Annual Fine Designer Crafts Show held on the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh during Thanksgiving weekend. The Fine Designer Crafts Show, a North Carolina tradition since 1970, features the work of over 100 juried fine craft artists, including handmade pottery, jewelry, glass, metal, wood, wearable art and more.

Scherr has been involved in design since 1973. Her experience includes being an illustrator for Goodyear Aircraft Corporation, an automotive designer for Ford Motor Company, a designer for the U.S. Steel Corporation and a jewelry designer for Reed and Barton Silversmiths and The Scherr Collections. Currently, she is a metals instructor at N.C. State University and continues to design original jewelry and small scale sculptures. She has received several awards for her work, including "Lifetime Achievement" awards from the National Museum of Women in the Arts and Society of North American Goldsmiths.
