Kung Fu, Thai Boxing, Japanese Flower Arranging and Kimono Show Are Among Many Entertainments at Asian Heritage Festival in St. Louis on Saturday October 6, 2012

ST. LOUIS, MO, October 04, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Asian Heritage Festival set for Saturday, October 6, 2012, in St. Louis promises a glorious day of colorful amusements, fresh food choices, cultural demonstrations and a variety of entertainments for children and adults, plus a showcase Asian goods, cultural treasures and merchandise from many countries.

The Asian Heritage Festival will feature a dozen different entertainments and demonstrations including authentic Kung Fu, Thai Boxing, Japanese flower arranging and a Kimono show, plus Asian dance and musical performances, and displays of Asian arts and crafts.

The Asian Heritage Festival will open at 10 a.m. and continue until 7 p.m. at the intersection of Olive Boulevard and McKnight Road in the heart of the Asian community in St. Louis' suburban University City. The festival is free, and ample parking is available. The Asian Heritage Festival is organized by the nonprofit Asian American Chamber of Commerce of St. Louis. "This first annual Asian Heritage Festival in St. Louis is showcasing many culturally diverse amusements, demonstrations and music for all who attend, plus scores of vendors in an international trade mart and food court," said Alexander Lee, Chairman of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of St. Louis. "This will be a very colorful and interesting event for people of all ages and ethnicities."

"More than 56,000 people who live and work in greater St. Louis and southwestern Illinois are of Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Pacific Island, Thai, Vietnamese, Pakistani and Indonesian backgrounds, according to 2011 U.S. Census data," said Max Tsai, board member and event chairman for the St. Louis Asian American Chamber of Commerce.

"The Asian Heritage Festival is an opportunity for peoples of all nationalities to convene, enjoy great food and entertainments and shop for unusual trade goods while meeting and making new friends. We look forward to celebrating a great day!"
