RALEIGH, NC, October 11, 2012 (Press-News.org) Central Park N.C. (http://centralparknc.org/), a nonprofit organization designed to promote a new economy based on the sustainable use of natural resources in eight counties in Central North Carolina, has announced the release of a podcast with Executive Director Nancy Gottovi about the tremendous economic impact the Yadkin River provides to the state.
In the podcast, Gottovi talks about the Yadkin River's potential for providing employment opportunities, as well as energy creation and economic development if the state can recapture its usage rights to the river. North Carolina can use money generated by the dams on the Yadkin River to attract great businesses and put more than 30,000 people back to work. She offers insight into how citizens can bolster North Carolina's efforts to gain rights to the Yadkin River, and what the long-term effects on its water will be if the state cannot achieve this goal. The podcast is available for download at http://bit.ly/PSvuQV.
QUOTES:
"We now have an incredible opportunity for North Carolina to gain control of its natural resources and use them in a way that ensures that the state's citizens have clean and safe drinking water," said Gottovi. "Central Park N.C. believes the Yadkin River is a vital natural resource and an invaluable asset to the area's future. Conversations about water rights need to happen now in order to preserve something so near and dear to the hearts of North Carolinians."
