Dog Bite Law in Texas

2010-10-10
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 4.5 million Americans suffer from dog bite injuries every year. One in five of these bites cause injuries that require medical attention. Unfortunately, Texas has experienced a high number of fatalities resulting from dog bites in recent years. In response, the Texas Legislature changed Texas dog bite law, but the current law still does not adequately help victims or prevent future dog bites and animal attacks. "Grey Divorce" a Growing Trend

2010-10-10
Going through a divorce is a life-changing experience. Starting over is never easy, especially for couples who have spent decades together. However, recent trends nationwide have shown an increase in baby boomer divorce rates. The US Census Bureau reports that one-fourth of all divorces that occurred in 2008 were by parties married 20 years or longer. Why are so many boomers deciding that enough is enough? A lot of couples simply fall out of love. People just grow apart over time, and decide that they no longer have anything in common. When children move away or go ...

Nevertheless, there were 4,340 fatal work injuries and the final count in April 2011 is expected to increase that figure by about three percent. The New York Times reports that Bill Kojola, an expert in the A.F.L.-C.I.O.'s occupational safety department, expressed skepticism in the results, saying, "I would not trust these numbers at the present time. It seemed that the state partners that report ...

Loan Modification Offers False Hope to Many Struggling Families

2010-10-10
Families in danger of foreclosure are seeking modifications of their loan terms in record numbers. It seems like a great solution to a difficult issue, and they reason that a modification will allow them to make their payments regularly and not fall too far behind. They may figure that since they are still paying down the mortgage that paying a lesser amount for a short time will have no consequences. Unfortunately, they are wrong. People seeking loan modifications often face similar credit history damage to those whose homes end up in foreclosure or short sold. Loan ...
