Painted Axe Delivers Crescent City & King Biscuit Festivals Guitars

Crescent City Blues & BBQ and King Biscuit Blues festivals get guitars for silent auction and volunteer reward

INDIANAPOLIS, October 19, 2012 (Press-News.org) Painted Axe is pleased to announce the custom-painted guitar for the Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival in New Orleans raised $650 at silent auction for the Heritage School of Music.

After the three-day festival, most of the 20 plus musical acts signed the acoustic guitar, including Keb Mo, Johnny Sansone, Little Freddie King, Otis Clay and more. The guitar featured a silhouette of a drummer and guitarist with the festival's logo on the bass drum.

"We are honored to assist the nonprofit Heritage School of Music through the blues festival," said Michael Gauf, of Painted Axe. "Scott Aiges and the Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival did an outstanding job lugging the guitar between stages and performances to collect those autographs and maximize the guitar's fundraising potential. We look forward to next year's project and helping out the school even more."

"We were very grateful (to Painted Axe) for the guitar for the auction," said Aiges, Director of Programs, Marketing & Communications at The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation. "It was a lot of fun to collect signatures, and we really appreciated the opportunity to create something unique that raised money for our Heritage School of Music."

In additional festival news, the King Biscuit Blues Festival commissioned a guitar for the third straight year the guitar awarded to the "volunteer of the year." The guitar featured a chalk-like painting of the festival's headliners on a brick wall, similar to a mural in downtown Helena, Ark. - the festival's hometown.

"The King Biscuit Blues Festival is one on the nation's longest running and revered blues festival and Painted Axe is proud to be a part of that tradition and look forward to next year," said Gauf.
