High Performance Tritex II Series Electric Servo Valve Actuator Delivers Quick and Stable Response to Command Signal Changes
2010-10-12
MINNETONKA, MN, October 12, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Tritex II Series actuator provides an ideal solution for valve actuation applications by reducing under-performing control valves, which cost a typical process plant tens of thousands of dollars each year. To overcome this lack of performance, Exlar's Tritex II eliminates the use of pneumatic actuators and delivers small hysterisis and dead band, quick response to small signal changes and stable dynamic response. Available in both linear and rotary versions, the Tritex II can be mounted on any valve from any manufacturer.

For precise valve control, the flow characteristic should be free of any negative gradients, which tend to make the valve unstable and hard to control. The Tritex II Series actuators offer extreme mechanical stiffness, making the actuator's position output resistant to non-linear or changing load conditions such as negative gradients.

Stiction and backlash in the control valve are the two most common contributors to excess process variability. If stiction is present with a pneumatic actuator, the valve will move too much to overcome it and the process variable will go too far. Then, the controller output will reverse direction and the same thing will happen again. Exlar actuators continuously hold the position of the valve stem or shaft allowing extremely fast response to command signal changes even when stiction is present--resulting in improved loop performance and reduced process variability.

The Tritex II linear actuator combines a high performance, brushless servo motor, position controller and a specially designed roller screw mechanism for converting electric motor power into linear motion. The higher stiffness of Exlar linear actuators easily allows positioning accuracy of 0.25% or better; in comparison, positioning accuracy of 2 to 4% is typical for pneumatic diaphragm type actuators. The Tritex II linear actuator has a stroke speed of 60 mSec (2 inch travel) and 24 to 48 VDC power. Additionally, it produces up to 1250 pounds of thrust capacity.

The Tritex II rotary actuator allows you to directly couple the actuator to the shaft of the valve, eliminating all linear to rotary linkages. Integrating a servo motor, controller and planetary gear reducer, the rotary actuator is available in a 60 and 90 mm frame size. With gear reduction ratios up to 100:1, the Tritex II rotary actuator can be mounted to most modulating ball or butterfly valves. It produces up to 2078 lbf-in in continuous torque.

Exlar Corporation designs, manufactures and sells linear and rotary motion products worldwide. For general product information, contact Exlar Corporation, 1470 Lake Drive West, Chanhassen, MN 55317. Phone: 952-368-3434. Fax: 952-368-4359. Website: www.exlar.com.

Although not all automobile owners may know it, standard auto insurance liability policies are not likely to cover costs related to these types of incidents. Property damage liability policies required by most states generally provide no protection for the policyholder's property. Rather, ...
