MISSION VIEJO, CA, November 14, 2012 (Press-News.org) SeniorCareHomes.com, a leader in the provision of senior care news and assisted living information nationally, recently participated and sponsored the Walk to End Alzheimer's event on November 3, 2012 in Huntington Beach, California. The Walk To End Alzheimer's is the Alzheimer Association's largest fundraising event of the year. Today, more than 5.5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease and it is now the 6th leading cause of death in the nation. More than 600 local senior care communities across the country participate annually in the nation-wide event to bring Alzheimer's Disease awareness, support and care.

"It was a very successful event! We are very honored to be a sponsor and contributor to this year's Walk To End Alzheimer's event. The Alzheimer's Walk is such an amazing turnout that grows exponentially each year," said Kate Allado, COO of SeniorCareHomes.com. "Alzheimer's is such an impacting disease, and we're hopeful that one day we can find a cure for this disease to help save a lifetime of memories."

As part of the festivities in the "Surf City," attendees of the Walk To End Alzheimer's strolled, jogged and wheeled their way along the famous boardwalk in Huntington Beach. All participants enjoyed the variety of activities including face painting and a live band performance.

Walk To End Alzheimer's had over 3,000 supporters in attendance, higher than the previous year, and have raised about $170,000 for Alzheimer's research and awareness programs. Donations are being accepted until November 30, 2012.

Sponsoring the Alzheimer's Walk is an example of how SeniorCareHomes.com actively participates in the senior care community. "We are encouraged to see participants eager to learn more about what we do and how we can help the senior community. This amazing event really hits home for us since my wife's grandmother currently suffers from Alzheimer's," said Erwin Allado, CEO & founder of Senior Care Homes. "We're excited to continue providing reliable information to the community so families are empowered to make the best Assisted Living decisions for their loved ones."
