LONDON, ENGLAND, November 27, 2012 (Press-News.org) Shingen Kitamura, a clever and prominent Japanese cabinet minister, is suspected by New Scotland Yard of knifing a Swedish girl to death in London's opulent West End. Kitamura leaves London for Tokyo soon after the girl's murder and James Steiner, a highly-ranked martial arts exponent, is sent to bring him in. Andrew Rohm, a friend of Kitamura's and doing life for the murder of four South African government ministers, escapes from Pollsmoor high-security prison near Cape Town and flees to London. He is seen by Steiner's girlfriend and Steiner was the one responsible for Rohm being jailed.
About the Author:
Brian Reeve lives in London, England. His published books include: A Dangerous Game (2005) Dark Intent (2008) Deadly Instinct (2009) The Scorpions' Tail (2010) and Zen Mind, No Mind (2011)
Excerpt from the book:
"At one-thirty in the morning a tall, well-built man left his car in the street and walked to the Hyatt Regency entrance. There were only a few people in the reception area, many in the bars and clubs upstairs. The man went to the lifts. He was carrying a long, slim bag, used for carrying bokken and jo. He ascended to the 7th floor.
The man left the lift, glanced at the room numbers, and walked along the passage to room 773. He stopped, sliding a baseball bat from his bag. He listened, inserted a plastic key into the lock and eased the door open. There was still no sound and he entered.
Steiner was lying asleep on his back in the double bed, the quilt covering only the lower half of his body. As the man positioned himself on one side of the bed, Steiner opened his eyes. But it was too late, and before he could move and deflect what was coming, the man struck him with force on his solar plexus, the mass of nerve cells in the upper abdomen, causing an involuntary lifting of his head and an immediate loss of consciousness.
With muted, brutal strikes the man lifted and rained the heavy bat on Steiner's chest, legs and arms, beating rhythmically in concert, deliberately avoiding Steiner's head. After a ten-second onslaught he lowered his bat. He had done enough, and stepped back, surveying his work. He hadn't given anyone such a beating for a long time and Steiner was lucky he was in good condition. He took a note typed on an A4 sheet of paper and a JAL flight ticket to London Heathrow made out to James Steiner from his jacket pocket and placed it on top of Steiner's unconscious, supine form. He returned his bat to the slim bag and left the room, closing the door quietly behind them. When he reached his car, he sped from the scene."

Fracking Operations Increase Methane Seepage
2012-11-27
Research by Southern Cross University in Queensland, Australia examined methane seepage from fracking operations conducted in Australian gas fields.
The research indicated that there was a much higher level of methane in the air above the Tara gas field, suggesting that there were widespread natural gas leaks as a result of changes in the soil structure caused by fracking. Those changes in the soil allow the escape of methane into the air in the vicinity of gas operations.
In some areas of the TARA field, methane levels were three times the background level. Researchers ...
