Music Group Raise Their Voices to Benefit Children's Healthcare of Atlanta

The Cumberland Collective perform live to support pediatric health.

2012-11-30
ATLANTA, GA, November 30, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Cumberland Collective will rock the stage for hundreds of people at Atlanta's first "Chords for Kids" benefit concert to support Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA). On Saturday, December 8, Chords for Kids will take place at The Red Clay Theatre, a venue that's part of a new venture for Atlanta's music maven, Eddie Owen. All proceeds will benefit CHOA, one of the nation's largest pediatric systems. Tickets for the concert are available at EddieOwenPresents.com and are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, and only $10 with an unwrapped toy.

The Cumberland Collective is a group comprised of independent singer/songwriters and musicians, whose tunes range from folk-pop anthems to country, contemporary soul to old-time talking blues. The band is a long-time supporter of children's hospitals across the Southeast, regularly performing live at local hospitals for patients and their families.

"From the very beginning, The Cumberland Collective has placed importance on giving back to the communities that choose to support us and Atlanta has been great to us," said front man Mike Willis. "We all have big hearts for kids. With several among us being parents, it's not hard to imagine the hopeless feeling of seeing your child struggle and being unable to help. We hope that our songs and our influence might serve to give strength and happiness to these kids and their families, especially during the holidays."
"My son spent months in the hospital, and when The Cumberland Collective would come to play for him and the other patients, it brought a sense of normalcy back to his day," said a CHOA patient's mother. "For a moment in time they are just being kids, listening to music, playing instruments, being part of a band."

CHOA is a not-for-profit organization that relies on generous philanthropic volunteer support. They are Atlanta's only hospital in pediatric healthcare and have a track record of providing world-class care to its patients in more than 30 pediatric specialties. With more than half a million patient visits each year and serving children from all 159 countries, Chords for Kids will support their greatest needs, from equipment to programs and services, while benefiting their patients now and for years to come.

"Chords for Kids hopes to have a packed house for this event and all the proceeds will greatly benefit CHOA," said Willis. "We intend to put on a great high energy show for a willing and participating audience!" With the holidays right around the corner, what better way to celebrate the spirit of the season than by giving back? It's sure to be a fun night, for a great cause!
