Guide by Cell Turns the Clock Back with Historic Mobile Audio Tour

The 200-year-old Pope Villa in Lexington, Kentucky now includes a Guide by Cell mobile audio tour with narration from the building's architect, Benjamin Henry Latrobe.

2010-10-15
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, October 15, 2010 (Press-News.org) As part of its recent restoration, the 200-year-old Pope Villa in Lexington, KY now includes a Guide by Cell mobile audio tour, through which visitors can hear narrated clips about the building's history from Villa architect Benjamin Henry Latrobe.

The site was restored by the Blue Grass Trust for Historic Preservation, which has revitalized many other historic sites in the Lexington community.

Currently, the Guide by Cell mobile audio tour is the only one of its kind in the Lexington area.

"We thought it would be a unique touch to have 'Latrobe' explain himself because there are so many details about the design that were personal to him," said Alison Carter, Historic Preservation Specialist at the Blue Grass Trust.

"There's a lot of information, and the cell phone guided tour gives people the flexibility to walk through at their own pace, and pick and choose what information they're interested in," Carter added. "And even if they don't have time to visit, they can listen to the tour at home at their own convenience!"

Dial (859) 963-5358 and follow the prompts to listen to the Pope Villa cell phone audio tour.
