CHAPEL HILL, NC, December 08, 2012 (Press-News.org) Truliant Federal Credit Union and FOX8 (WGHP) are proud to announce that Patricia Shue from High Point won our "Mortgage for a Year" contest. According to the terms of the contest the winner will have their monthly mortgage or rent payments paid by Truliant for a year.
"We're excited to announce Patricia Shue as the winner of the 'Mortgage for a Year' contest. We know that owning your own home is one of the greatest joys for any person, but we also understand how monthly mortgage or rent payments can sometimes become a demanding financial responsibility," said Marc Schaefer, president and CEO of Truliant. "We are happy to alleviate this responsibility for Patricia for the year, and hope that she will use the extra money to continue to build a strong financial foundation for herself and her family."
The contest ran from Nov. 7 to Nov. 25, and the final winner was chosen on Nov. 26. Patricia was notified by FOX8 staff while working at The Salvation Army of High Point, her employer. "You don't know how much this is needed," she stated as she cried tears of joy. "This assistance from Truliant will help my family and me in so many ways. I hope to save these monthly rental fees to be able to purchase a home within the next year, as well as, help my granddaughter attend college."
Truliant became involved with this unique opportunity when contacted by Fox8 representatives. Truliant's mission is to enhance the financial lives of their member-owners and those in the community. Because Truliant is so committed to improving people's lives, the financial cooperative felt the "Mortgage for a Year" contest was a perfect tie-in to their mission. With people in the community continuing to struggle during the recession, if Truliant could help them take a year off from paying their mortgage, the organization could give someone the chance to start to think about doing something for themselves and their financial future.
