GREENBORO, NC, December 14, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Queen's Foundation, with the sponsorship of Bayer CropScience, will host its first Queen's Conference at the Crabtree Marriott in Raleigh, North Carolina, December 14-16, 2012. The Queen's Foundation, a statewide North Carolina non-profit, offers programming for at-risk girls and high-achieving young women in underserved North Carolina communities, enabling them to become servant leaders in their communities and future leaders of the world.
"The Queen's Foundation empowers our next generation of female leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to reach their full potential and become successful young women," stated Meshea Brodie, State Registration Manager and Lead of Women's Leadership Initiative at Bayer CropScience. "Bayer understands the need to foster the growth of these future leaders and is happy to support their journey."
Girls currently enrolled in The Queen's Foundation, along with those who have graduated from the program, are invited to attend this annual conference, which focuses on personal development, service, and education. Over 150 girls, or "queens," from six counties in North Carolina represent the girls from The Queen's Foundation.
"Besides being a life altering and exciting experience for our queens, this conference is about holding our girls accountable to the values of our organization so that they can go back to their communities and lead," said Nadia Shirin Moffett, Executive Director of The Queens Foundation.
Before entering the conference, the girls are responsible for delivering and presenting their own 30-second "commercial," which can be used to leverage opportunities to promote themselves at the conference and at several events The Queen's Foundation exposes the girls to throughout the year. The girls will participate in service projects, a values academy workshop, breakout sessions with Bayer Women panelists, and a fashion photo shoot; and they will attend a dinner in downtown Raleigh. In addition, they will develop one-year personal goals and present them to their family, friends, and mentors on the final day of the conference.
The Queen's Foundation is committed to staying relevant in the lives of at-risk girls and helping The Queen's Foundation graduates stay accountable for their behaviors while introducing them to skills to ensure they pursue higher education and attain their leadership goals.
The Queen's Foundation holds all the young women in the program accountable for success and leadership for years after their graduation from the program. This long-term commitment includes a minimum participation of one year in our program, quarterly follow-ups upon graduation, local mentoring for every girl after graduation, and attendance at the annual Queen's Conference.
