December 17, 2012 (Press-News.org) Google's TV Ad experiment reads like a tale of mystery and the macabre. Customer dissatisfaction might have been the "Tell Tale Heart" of Google's now dead and buried TV ad system. Maybe TV networks foresaw that it was "The Masque of the Red Death" of advertising sales. Regardless, Google's "Descent Into the Maelstrom" suffered a predictable end, and this past week the final nails were sunk into their "Oblong Box." In burying their TV effort, they committed the premature burial of their own users. Seems few were "raven" about Google's fledgling TV service... and most all customers and TV networks have quoth, "Nevermore."
But seriously...
We can wax Poe-etic about Google's "Fall of the House of Usher" and how their pendulum swung into the pit of techno-obscurity, but undeniably, their TV experiment joins a growing list of Google's 60-plus failures of recent years.
Tragically, many businesses abandoned by Google's TV experiment are left with TV ads that potentially don't meet current U.S. broadcast specifications, and false notions about how real TV actually works, and how efficient and cost-effective it can be.
Tempted by the allure of self-service, both advertisers and investors may have been lulled into eternal sleep, dreaming of a technological solution to the specter of a non-existent problem. TV advertising can be cheap, fast, and targeted without a greedy, venture-funded middleman getting between them and great deals. As advertisers realize that search ad monopolies are too expensive and mobile ads are just plain annoying, more are returning to traditional TV - the biggest screen with the greatest number of eyeballs.
Cheap TV Spots welcomes entrepreneurs desiring a reliable, quality alternative that will be here for years to come. Founded in 2001 (long before Google even thought about TV), CheapTVSpots.com offers award-winning, value priced all-original TV commercials crafted by its experienced, in-house production team, and a hassle-free way for entrepreneurs to advertise on television.
With more than double the TV advertising experience of Google and reaching over 33 million more U.S. TV households than Google, Cheap TV Spots offers value-priced, real-world TV advertising services, agency style. Our services are geared toward start-ups, SMBs, and entrepreneurs.
Today, CheapTVSpots.com offers an evaluation service for TV ads previously produced for Google (which now may be rejected by real TV stations and networks). CheapTVSpots.com also has a research division, TVAdRateStore.com - where former Google TV Ads customers can find out what air time actually costs, currently, on any network or TV station across the U.S., locally, regionally, or nationally.
