The Label Printers A Platinum Sponsor of the 2010 International Law Enforcement IP Crime Conference Co-hosted by Interpol and Hong Kong Customs in Partnership with Underwriters Laboratories

The Label Printers a Sponsor & workshop presenter at the 2010 International Law Enforcement IP Crime Conference, hosted by INTERPOL, Hong Kong Customs and UL, in Hong Kong, October 19-21. The theme is "Working Together to Break Organized Crime"

AURORA, IL, October 17, 2010

The Label Printers is a sponsor and workshop presenter for the 2010 International Law Enforcement Intellectual Property (IP) Crime Conference. Ronald K. Noble, Secretary General of Interpol explains, "the IP Crime Conference was developed to focus on operational activities by bringing police, customs, regulatory agencies, private sector IP crime investigators and prosecutors together to share and develop best practices to combat counterfeiting and piracy crimes... It is a unique forum that allows rights holders to attend, meet and network with international law enforcement personnel who are at the forefront of international efforts to combat these crimes from a wide variety of agencies. This opportunity is rarely found at other forums where the focus is on high-level strategy rather than providing practical operational solutions to common problems. The focus of the...conference is "Working Together to Break Organized Crime." A prerequisite to collective success is consistently targeting those transnational organized criminals who systematically manufacture and distribute counterfeit and pirated goods on a regional and increasingly global basis."

Underwriters Laboratories' states, "[UL] is a very proud partner with INTERPOL and have enjoyed working with other co-hosts to deliver these conferences. We are therefore delighted to support INTERPOL and this year's co-host Hong Kong Customs as we work together to present the 2010 IP Crime Conference. Together with the other core supporters of the INTERPOL IPR Programme we sincerely appreciate the joint leadership shown by INTERPOL and Hong Kong Customs and commend their decision to co-host this important conference in the interests of all those who are committed to combating transnational organized IP crime."
Bill Kane, Chief Executive of The Label Printers echoes that pride in being given the opportunity by UL to help sponsor this event. Says Mr. Kane, "We chose to become a Platinum Sponsor because The Label Printers is dedicated to providing IP rights holders with solutions to protect themselves and their customers from counterfeiting and piracy - for both economic and public safety reasons. Counterfeiting is not limited to knock-offs of brand name clothing and pirated discs - so-called "victimless" crimes. Not only is our economy a "victim" of this piracy, the counterfeiting scourge includes products that can be deadly - electrical cords that start fires, internet "medicine" that kills rather than cures, brakes that fail - the list goes on. In addition, much of the income from counterfeiting goes to organized crime and terrorists. It's a win/lose situation - and the only winners are the counterfeiters. The losers are rights holders, manufacturers, and consumers, and all those charged with their safety."

The International Law Enforcement IP Crime Conference is a working conference that will include three days of Plenary Sessions, Operational and Practical Workshops. It will also be followed up with an Interpol hosted session "International Dimension Training Day", a training session for customs groups on October 22nd. The Conference will include Keynote speeches by individuals such as Eric Holder, the Attorney General of the United States.

The Conference's Operational Themes are:
• Innovative Labeling and Product Protection Strategies
• Utilizing Audit Capabilities to Support Investigations
• Evidential Benefits Arising from Technology
Plenary Sessions and Workshops will cover such topics as:
• Moving Forward to Break Organized Crime
• Global Cooperation to Combat Transnational Organized Crime
• Cyberspace Pirates - Combating Online Criminals in the 21st Century
• A Private Sector Perspective: Global Threat to IP - The Four Threats
• Border Protection - Effective Anti-Smuggling Techniques
• Borderless Thieves - Overcoming Boundaries to Prosecute Organized Crime
• Peddlers and Markets - Attacking Organized Crime at the Street Level
• Financial Remedies - Innovative Tools to Break Organized Crime
• Preparing for Battle - Setting up an Effective IP Crime Unit

The Label Printers' workshop presentation topic is "21st Century Science - Utilizing Technology to Break Organized Crime"
Workshop Facilitator: Lori Campbell, Chief of Operations, The Label Printers
Support Facilitator: Russ LaCoste, Sales Director - North America, SICPA
Panelists:
Mr. Ken Leung, Manager, China Anti-Counterfeiting Operations, UL
Ms. Catherine Begley, Manager of Investigations (Counterfeit Program) Merck, Inc.
Ms. Campbell stresses that conference organizers want the workshops to be relatively small, interactive sessions, rather than speeches or data dumps. "Since its inception, one of the ongoing themes of this Conference is the importance of cooperation and partnership among all of those working to combat counterfeiting and piracy. We want our session to not only address our topic, but facilitate an exchange of experiences and ideas." She goes on to say, "the rights holders on the panel will be sharing with us mini "case studies". We expect that addressing those experiences and best practices will be the catalyst for a Q & A dialogue, which will allow all of us to learn more about the problems faced by rights holders and the technologies available to be translated into solutions to these problems."

In addition to their workshop facilitation, The Label Printers, along with a number of other conference attendees, will participate in an exhibit of IP (Intellectual Property) crime-fighting technologies and solutions.
