The Island Resort & Casino in Michigan's Upper Peninsula has broken ground on a new $2 million conference center to attract more corporate golf outings and meetings.

The WellMed Charitable Foundation will receive part of a nearly half-million dollar federal grant to widen the scope of a successful wellness curriculum for caregivers designed by researchers at the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio.
