Global Lift Corporation Advises on Pool Lift Bonding

Pool lift bonding confusion continues as title II and title III pool owners and operators work to become compliant with the current ADA laws. Global Lift Corporation recommends contacting electrical inspectors, as they have the final say.

2013-01-28
BAD AXE, MI, January 28, 2013 (Press-News.org) As pool lift bonding questions and confusion continue while title II and title III pool owners and operators work to become compliant with the current Americans with Disabilities Act laws, Global Lift Corporation recommends contacting a trusted electrical inspector for answers.

Global Lift Corporation, the nation's largest pool lift manufacturer, says the final decision on bonding rests in the hands of state and local electrical inspectors, not the pool lift manufacturer. Thus, all questions regarding portable pool lift bonding should be directed to inspectors and legal counsel.

Proper bonding, and thus compliance with the electrical code in the ADA guidelines, may change where the pool lift should be installed. Improper bonding can be a safety hazard.

However, as the nation's only ISO-9001 certified pool lift manufacturer, it is Global Lift Corporation's opinion and recommendation that all pool lifts, both portable and fixed, need to be bonded for safety if they are going to enter the pool water at any time.

The deadline for ADA pool lift compliance is January 31, 2013. Public and private industry pools are required to have a minimum of two accessible points of entry by this time. At least one point of entry must be a pool lift or sloped entry.
