West Michigan Youth Symphony to Perform Spring Concert
in Frauenthal Theater
Muskegon, Michigan, February 12, 2013 - The West Michigan Youth Symphony will showcase talented young musicians from throughout West Michigan on Sunday, March 17 at 3 p.m. in downtown Muskegon's Frauenthal Center for the Performing Arts.
The program for the Youth Symphony Orchestra and Debut Strings will include Alfred Reed's "A Festive Overture," Aaron Copland's "Our Town," Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 8 Unfinished and selections from "Wicked," the musical. Graduating seniors will be recognized during the afternoon.
In addition, winners of study grants to fund further music education opportunities for Youth Symphony members will be announced.
Members of the Youth Symphony programs have earned a spot in the ensemble through an audition process and they participate in weekly rehearsals at Muskegon Community College. The members represent 47 middle and high schools from Hart and Montague to the north, Fremont and White Cloud to the east, Zeeland to the south and points inbetween, with additional student members from Muskegon Community College.
Tickets for the concert are available in person at the West Michigan Symphony office at 425 W. Western Avenue, Suite 409, Muskegon, or at the door on the day of the concert beginning at 2:15 PM. Adult tickets are $10, seniors (65 and older) are $5, and students are free (18 and younger or with a college ID).
