Businesses and Institutions Get Paid to Upgrade Refrigeration Systems

Entergy Electric has more than DOUBLED their 2013 rebate program for commercial refrigeration upgrades. These rebates are over and above energy savings of 80% or more. In total, this means that business are now GETTING PAID to upgrade their systems.

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, AR, February 26, 2013

Entergy Electric has more than DOUBLED their 2013 rebate program for commercial refrigeration upgrades.

Modern electronics have revolutionized commercial refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers and freezers as well as reach-in display coolers and freezers. These technologies are so energy-efficient that they routinely slash electricity consumption by 80% or more over the original equipment.

Businesses and institutions recognize that every dollar in expense reduction is AUTOMATICALLY a dollar of increased profits or positive budgetary cash flow.

In addition, because of these energy savings of 80% or more, the refrigeration upgrades ALWAYS save more money than they cost. This means that making these upgrades to the refrigeration systems actually makes it possible for the business or institution to generate positive cash flow from the first month following installation.

If the electricity cost savings ONLY equaled the project price, the NET cost to make these upgrades would be ZERO.

But to the electricity expense savings businesses can now add rebates available from Entergy Electric. Entergy has increased incentives that are available for 2013 to 75% of the project costs. Now the savings on electricity expenses and the rebates EXCEED the project cost. This means that facilities are literally being PAID to upgrade with more energy-efficient technologies!

Why would Entergy Electric offer large incentives, including rebates of up to 75% of the project cost?

Arkansas consumes electricity at a rate above the national average, and consumption continues to increase every year. It costs hundreds of millions of dollars to add to the supply of electricity, as well as 10 to 20 years of studies, approvals (and often lawsuits), development, and construction. Plus, the cost of electricity generation and distribution at current levels continues to increase every year.

Entergy is REQUIRED to maintain funding to provide incentives for energy-efficiency. Past incentives were not well-received by businesses so the percentage that took advantage was relatively small.

So in 2013 Entergy Electric has redesigned their incentive programs by VASTLY increasing incentives for small and large businesses, along with institutions including schools and government facilities. Entergy has increased the pool of available funding for energy-efficiency projects from about $5 million in 2012 to over $9 million in 2013.

These incentives are available for up to 75% of qualifying project costs, increased from 50% in 2012.

Many businesses have further maximized cash flow by taking lease-purchase plans for financing. Lease-purchase options allows the business to make monthly payments that are LESS each month than the energy savings that they realize. The facility make major improvements to their facility without tapping into working capital by choosing a low monthly payment over 24 to 36 months.

Businesses and institutions should not that these incentives from Entergy Electric are set aside for 2013 and are subject to availability while the pool of funding remains. Interested businesses should contact Entergy, or the incentive administrator CLEAResults for more information and qualifications.
