TAMPA, FL, March 06, 2013 (Press-News.org) The growing international trend toward smaller implants indicates that bigger may not always be better. Dr. Joseph J. Castellano (http://www.castellanocosmeticsurgery.com), a breast augmentation specialist in Tampa, Florida, has noticed this shift toward more subtle results in his own practice as well.
"Breast augmentation isn't just about cup size anymore," explains Dr. Castellano. "Women are learning that the implant type, shape and placement counts just as much, if not more, toward their overall aesthetic as does volume."
Many plastic surgeons have reported that women seeking breast augmentation are requesting smaller implants than before. Their goals are for more conservative cup sizes, in order to achieve a more natural looking result. One reason for this shift may be the desire for a happy medium between an enhanced appearance and natural-looking result. Women who are naturally slender or have a small build tend to have smaller breasts as well. Large implants can look distracting or unnatural on smaller women; this can be a giveaway that a woman has had surgery, something not every woman is comfortable with.
"While the modern attitude toward cosmetic surgery shows a decreasing stigma, not everyone wants to advertise that they've had work done," says Dr. Castellano, who sees both men and women for a variety of procedures at his Tampa plastic surgery practice. "Huge breasts on a small woman can be one of those giveaways."
In addition to choosing a smaller implant size from the outset, many women also request breast surgery revision in order to remove larger implants and exchange them for more subtle profiles. Although initially pleased with their surgeries, they may find their larger size more cumbersome as time goes on, wishing instead for an implant more in line with their natural frame and lifestyle.
Several celebrities have had widely publicized revision surgeries to reduce their implant size, such as Victoria Beckham and stars of Bravo's Real Housewives series. Even Pamela Anderson, a self-proclaimed poster girl for large breast implants, has chosen to have revision surgery for a more modest look.
The look of a breast augmentation can also be varied and adjusted by choosing different techniques and materials. The placement of an implant, either below the glandular tissue or below the muscle, impacts the final results of the surgery. The type of implant also has an effect; patients have the choice of either saline or silicone. In addition to material, implants also come in different shapes and profiles for a more customizable result.
"High-profile, round implants will be more dramatic," explains Dr. Castellano. "But they also give a perky look to breasts that suits younger women well, even those with small frames. With the different implant types, shapes and profiles that are available now, breast augmentation can be fully tailored for every individual woman's shape like never before."
Castellano Cosmetic Surgery Center (http://www.castellanocosmeticsurgery.com) was founded in Tampa by Dr. Joseph J. Castellano, a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Medical Association. A Tampa native, Dr. Castellano's unique, personalized, hometown approach has redefined the local cosmetic surgery scene in facial rejuvenation, breast enhancement, and body contouring.

Supreme Court: Drug dogs can be used to establish probable cause
2013-03-06
Police have a lot of power when investigating alleged criminal activity. If they suspect an individual may be involved in the distribution of illegal drugs, they will often conduct extensive investigations into the suspect. Despite these powers, police must still adhere to the rights afforded to citizens in the U.S. Constitution, specifically protections against searches and seizures that would violate the Fourth Amendment.
A recent Supreme Court case addressed the use of drug-detecting dogs to establish probable cause to search a vehicle in a Florida traffic stop. After ...
