Increased DWI Arrests in New York Forecasted with Warmer Spring and Summer Weather

With the warm summer months coming, attorney Seth Katz, asks that drivers take note that there will be additional DWI check points throughout New York City and state. The warm weather often spurs a spike in alcohol related arrests and accidents.

2013-04-24
NEW YORK, NY, April 24, 2013 (Press-News.org) New York has implemented some of the strictest DWI laws in the country. An arrest for drunk driving can result in the loss of your license. A conviction can lead to much more. If you have been charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), you need the type of aggressive representation that New York City DWI lawyer Seth Ian Katz provides. With more than a decade of experience handling DWI and traffic charges throughout New York State, he has a clear understanding of DUI laws and the defenses available to you.

Our job in defending you against your New York DWI charges is threefold:
- Keep you on the road
- Keep you in possession of your car
- Keep you out of jail

New York also has the "ignition interlock law". Anyone sentenced for DWI/drunk driving in New York must install an ignition interlock device on any car or other vehicle they own. Furthermore, drivers convicted of DWI will have an "ignition interlock" restriction added to their driving license.

New York also has Leandra's Law.

Leandra's Law is named after 11 year old Leandra Rosado who was killed in October 2009 when the adult driving herself and her friends crashed the car on the Henry Hudson Parkway in NYC. The driver was arrested for DWI. This followed the horrific "Taconic Crash" in which 8 people were killed, 4 of them children.

The resulting "Leandra's Law" elevates the crime of drunk driving with a child in the car to a Class E felony punishable up to 4 years in prison; if the child is injured, 7 years; and if killed, 15 years. It also mandates ignition interlocks for the cars of all convicted DWI offenders for a minimum of 6 months.

Finally, New York has recently implemented mandatory license revocations (some can be permanent lifetime revocations) for people convicted of multiple DWI offenses.

The bottom line is that the summer months bring barbecues, ball games and outdoor activities that tend to increase the number of alcohol related arrests and accidents. Get a designated driver if you decide to drink. Take a cab or train, but don't take a chance by drunk driving.

Katz Law Offices reminds the driving public that DWI is a serious criminal offense. If you decide to drink, be sure to have a designated driver. If you have been charged with an alcohol related crime, call Seth Katz or go to www.KatzLawyers.com.

Katz Lawyers can be reached twenty-four (24) hours a day seven (7) days a week for same day around the clock arraignments in all Courts and Counties statewide. Call 212-747-0606

No Impact On Whistleblower Claims After Off-Label Drugs Ruling

2013-04-24
The Second Circuit Court of Appeals recently ruled that the First Amendment protects pharmaceutical companies and their employees from criminal prosecutions involving off-label drug marketing. Some observers think that this case could eventually lead to a new legal approach to off-label pharmaceutical uses - an approach that could conceivably change how off-label whistleblower lawsuits unfold against drug manufacturers and healthcare providers. Although off-label prescription drugs are involved in many False Claims Act cases, this decision looks unlikely to have any ...

2013-04-24
Bleeding gums are an all-too-common occurrence, but the dentists at Norcross Dental Associates know that healthy gums do not bleed easily. The Gwinnett dentists want their patients to understand the root causes of bleeding gums. Most frequently, bleeding gums are caused by bacterial, viral or fungal infections of the gums. These infections can cause gingivitis or inflame the gums, causing them to shrink away from our teeth and become more susceptible to bleeding on contact. Poor dental hygiene, such as not brushing or flossing properly, can also lead to our gums bleeding. Bleeding ...
