Surprising Vacation Trends Reveal a Focus on Planning, a Tip Joann C. Higgins Advocates

Joann C. Higgins promotes the vital planning process, a trend recently adopted by summer vacationers seeking outdoor adventure.

2013-05-16
PHILADELPHIA, PA, May 16, 2013 (Press-News.org) Summer vacationers are planning ahead, a trend praised by outdoor enthusiast, Joann C. Higgins. A recent article in the Denver I Journal suggests the planning aspect of travel has become a renewed priority, even more so than budget restraints. The study was conducted by Destination Hotels and Resorts, a leading hospitality management company in the country.

The report shows men and women are increasingly focused on extensively planning and filling their schedules with adventure-filled activities. Not only are they sufficiently preparing, they are also planning a few get away trips - without their kids. Joann C. Higgins, the owner and founder of Outdoor Explorations enthusiastically weighs in on the summer trends. "People are starting to see the benefits of making preparations well in advance, especially when it comes to booking outdoor activities," she said. "And while family adventures are highly sought after in the Lake Tahoe area, Outdoor Explorations is continuing to book more couples-exclusive trips."

She also recognizes the effects of what the article refers to as the "post-recession boom of flash-sales and last-minute deals." Joann C. Higgins remarks on the renewed interest in shopping and creating full, multi-day activities. "Vacationers are planning again because they are able to shop for the best rates. Value trumps cost most of the time for travelers," she said. "People are no longer interested in sticking to their budgets. They want the perfect summer trip, which is why Outdoor Explorations provides a variety of multi-day adventures and activities."

Outdoor Explorations is an outdoor adventure company near the Lake Tahoe, Nevada area. As the owner and certified guide, she can attest to the article's findings that "when it comes to vacation, more is more." The report also states that 76 percent of vacationers plan to take as many short trips as possible, compared to the 22 percent of men and women seeking a week or longer, one-time summer escape.

She continues to highlight the article's perspective on national parks. "People are looking to explore the wilderness and learn new skills. There is such an evident need for outdoor adventure services, even in what some may call the off season." The article states more than 82 percent of travelers hope to visit America's national parks this year, and most of them are interested in acquiring a new skill during their trips.

Fifty-two percent of Americans responding to the study are ready to take lessons in outdoor activities and sports. Joann C. Higgins points out vacationers' desires to explore the great outdoors. "People don't want to plan complicated vacations anymore. They want to explore the wilderness and plan action-packed trips," Joann C. Higgins concludes.
