"Tohoku: Road to the Future" Show in San Diego

Help empower disaster survivors by purchasing the artwork and goods they create

SAN DIEGO, CA, May 30, 2013

Relief 2.0, an organic movement of volunteers and organizations to promote efficient disaster response and sustainable disaster recovery will be running Relief 2.0 - Tohoku: Road to Recovery -- a photo and photography exhibit at Rosarito Art Festival. Paintings, photos and handicrafts will be available for sale at the show, and the proceeds empower the survivors to support themselves instead of relying on donations.

"Tohoku: Road to the Future" was first opened in Fukuoka by Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus on July 19, 2012. This show has been to North and South America and across Asia since. This will be the 18th international show after completing the last show in Singapore.

This show is one day only on May 29th, and the show will feature photos by Robin Low, co-founder of Relief 2.0, art work by Isao Hasagawa, artist and survivor of the Japan Tsunami. Photos are taken 10 days after the Tsunami and 1 year after to show the recovery of Japan. There will also be handicrafts and products made by survivors living in temporary shelters in Tohoku, the north east of Japan struck by the Tsunami.

"Natural Disaster happens and it is nobody's fault, however, what happens after becomes our responsibility." Said Mr. Low. "I hope to share some of the innovation in processes and technology which helped with the disaster recovery process with the rest of the world."

"After a disaster has left the news and pictures of the people displaced and devastated are gone we tend to forget that there is still much work to be done." said Andy Gonzalez "Relief 2.0 continues the work until the job is done."
