Hailing from New Jersey, Eric graduated from Rutgers University (NJ) with a degree in Journalism. Upon graduating Rutgers, Eric spent three years covering the Fresno State men's basketball team for the Fresno Bee in Fresno, CA. Subsequently, Eric was a dynamic college sports reporter for more than eight years at the Washington Post.

Eric joined the USAToday in July 2012 where his uncanny ability to investigate matters and to uncover seemingly unreachable facts continued. Eric was the first to break the national story about former Kansas Jayhawk basketball player, Ben McLemore, accepting more than $10,000 in cash, gifts and trips from a middleman courting McLemore on behalf of sports agents and financial advisers.
