Exotic Mediterranean Feast and Cabaret Show to Benefit Mesothelioma Victims in Los Angeles

Fundraising dinner in West Los Angeles to help mesothelioma research.

LOS ANGLES, CA, March 01, 2014 (Press-News.org) For one night only, Byblos Mediterranean Restaurant on Westwood Boulevard, will host a dinner and cabaret show to benefit important stem cell mesothelioma research conducted by the Pacific Meso Center's laboratory at the Pacific Heart, Lung & Blood Institute.

The Pacific Meso Center (PMC), a division of PHLBI, provides education, advocacy and research, for patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM), an asbestos- related cancer, affecting the lining of the chest, the pleura.
The event will take place on Saturday, May 3 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and the proceeds will be donated to the PMC. Tickets cost $25 and include a delicious Mediterranean dinner, a belly dancer and violinist. Cash bar and opportunity drawings to win prizes worth more than $500 will also be available.

"We are so grateful for the generosity of the Mikhaiel family to open up their restaurant and donate the proceeds for important mesothelioma research," said Dr. Robert B. Cameron, one of the scientific advisors of the PMC and a leading expert on MPM. Dr. Cameron is a Professor and Senior Surgeon at UCLA, the director of the UCLA Comprehensive Mesothelioma Program at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Chief of Thoracic Surgery at the West Los Angeles Veterans' Administration Medical Center, and a long-time proponent of lung-sparing surgery for MPM.

Participants also have a chance to receive an Early Bird Special, if they reserve a spot online before March 31. The offer includes $5 off the registration fee, and a free opportunity drawing ticket. The Pacific Meso Center (PMC) is a division of the Pacific Heart, Lung & Blood Institute, a 501(c)(3) non-profit medical research institute established in 2002 which is focused on the treatment and prevention of malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM). The exploration of innovative ideas forms the foundation of PMC's unique research program and provides the promise of future treatment breakthroughs. PMC is dedicated to educating the public on asbestos-related diseases and informing them of their best treatment options. PMC also connects newly diagnosed patients with patients that have been through treatment and provides assistance and emotional support.
