ST. LOUIS, MO, March 21, 2014 (Press-News.org) SyMyco, Inc., an international bioscience company became a Bio-Research & Development Growth Park (BRDG Park) tenant in 2011 and in the past two years has researched, developed and shipped its first product, a unique consortium of concentrated Mycorrhizal fungi, an all-natural commercial product to enhance plant productivity and improve plant health in agriculture and horticulture.
"These fungi play a critical role in the health and productivity of 90 percent of plant species in natural areas and form with most major crop species; they also reduce the need for water and chemical fertilizers," said Aditya Malhotra, board member of SyMyco and Symbiotic Sciences. "The BRDG Park's ecosystem, proximity to best-in-class researchers, critical infrastructure and vibrant network of agtech influencers has created more than a U.S. base; it has helped us grow our business internationally and to deliver technologies like Mycorrhizal fungi to farmers and enhance their profitability in a more sustainable manner."
The plant science company utilized the Danforth Center's state-of-the-art facilities and expertise of the Plant Growth Facility's staff to research the fungi in order to develop its product aimed at increasing farm production and sustainability.

The flourishing company is expected to more than double its revenue in 2014 and is planning to launch other commercial products in the market. SyMyco increased its staff by 60%, including hiring lab technicians from the St. Louis Community College's Center for Plant and Life Sciences bio-technician training program and are also currently reviewing expansion plans at BRDG Park for 2014.
