PEI Preserve Company Helps Canadians Support Deployed Soldiers at Christmastime

Prince Edward Island Preserve Company offers special gift packages for Canadians wishing to send a taste of home to deployed military service personnel.

2010-12-04
HUNTER RIVER, PE, CANADA, December 04, 2010 (Press-News.org) To help show their support for the Canadian troops, Shirley and Bruce MacNaughton, owners of the Prince Edward Island Preserve Company, are now offering a special package for deployed military personnel through the Preserve Company's online store.

There are two gift boxes available: one contains three 250ml jars of preserves and one contains six. The boxes have special labels with messages of support in the design. The Preserve Company will donate $5 from the smaller package and $10 from the larger one to the PEI Military Family Services Centre, an organization helping families of members in the Canadian Forces to handle stress that comes along with a military lifestyle.

Charlene McInnis, PEI Military Family Services Coordinator says, "On behalf of everyone at the Centre, I would like to thank the management and wonderful staff at the PEI Preserve Company. They're providing such a wonderful opportunity for everyone, not only to show their support for our troops, but to extend that support to our military families on PEI by way of donation to our Centre for programming and services for our families."

Anyone with a friend or loved one serving overseas can purchase one of these gift packages which will be shipped at no charge to the attention of the service personnel they wish to receive the package. Any Canadian who would like to send a gift to a deployed member of the military may do so even if they don't have a personal connection to a soldier. In this case, The Preserve Company will work with an agency to ensure a Canadian soldier in need of a gift from home receives it.

"We have a great deal of respect for the men and women who serve our country and at the end of October when we started seeing the first red poppies around, we started thinking about how we could show our support for our armed forces. We tossed around some ideas through conversations with different members of our team and came up with these new gift sets for deployed soldiers. We also want to help the families of those service people, so we decided to donate a percentage of the proceeds to a charity that supports that specific cause," states MacNaughton.

These gift packages are available now in time for Christmas. For more information or to purchase one, please visit PreserveCompany.com

The Prince Edward Island Preserve Company was founded in 1985 by Bruce and Shirley MacNaughton.
