Socrato Introduces SAT and ACT Test Bubble Sheet Scanning Services

Automated Processing for SAT and ACT Bubble Sheets Makes it Easy for Tutoring Centers and Schools to Score Tests in Bulk

2011-01-06
NORTH ANDOVER, MA, January 06, 2011 (Press-News.org) Socrato announces new bubble sheet scanning service (http://bit.ly/aoU6BK) for SAT and ACT practice tests. The scanning service allows tutoring centers and schools automatic scoring of hundreds of paper bubble sheets simultaneously saving both time and money spent grading practice tests manually.

Bubble sheet forms are most commonly used for capturing responses on standardized tests like the SAT and ACT. While bubble sheets make capturing test responses easier, calculating test scores can still take up to an hour per test. The new service scans, grades, and reports on a bubble sheet test form in a matter of seconds. In an interview Raju Gupta, CEO and Founder of Socrato said:

"This new service empowers our large and small tutoring customers alike. Our smaller customers benefit from the automation at a bargain price, and our larger customers are able to provide bulk testing services in schools with a quick turn around that traditionally only huge companies such as Kaplan or Princeton Review have been able to provide."

To use the scanning service customers simply print copies of Socrato's free bubblesheet template for the desired SAT or ACT test and provide them to students for marking answers during practice tests. The free template allows tutors to have bubble sheets in hand instantly, saving the cost of purchasing standard ACT and SAT answer forms.

Once a practice test is completed customers have two methods for processing bubble sheets: 1) Digitally - One can scan the batch of bubble sheets using a conventional home or office scanner and submit them to Socrato in a PDF format via e-mail, 2) Hard copy - Mail the paper bubble sheets to Socrato using USPS, FedEx or similar provider. Upon receipt the bubble sheets are procssed and the data is compiled and e-mailed back to the customer in an easy to read Excel file within 3 business days. Cost of the scanning service ranges from $0.50 to $1.00 for a minimum order of 50 bubble sheets plus the cost of shipping if return service is requested for the hardcopy bubble sheets.

Socrato customers using the scanning service have the added advantage of accessing the data from their online account allowing them to order full diagnostic reports with in-depth analysis of individual student responses using Socrato's learning analytics software.

Socrato (http://www.socrato.com/), a learning analytics software company, provides a platform for test preparation and assessment. The learning analytics services give insight into standardized test taking beyond the basic practice scores. The personalized nature of Socrato's services allows students, tutors, teachers and even parents to target the student's test taking weaknesses.
