SAN DIEGO, CA, January 07, 2011 (Press-News.org) "Giving back to the communities in which it builds is an enduring tradition at Pardee Homes, especially during the holidays," said Mike McGee, president and chief executive officer of Pardee Homes. "This year we are continuing a tradition we started seven years ago of bypassing the corporate holiday party and making an extra special effort to reach out to those who need some extra good cheer."
Combining financial and volunteer resources, the eighth consecutive Holiday Giving benefits the temporarily homeless, physically or mentally challenged children, needy families, senior citizens and others identified by each of Pardee's regional offices.
Monies used in lieu of the luncheons represent all of Pardee's offices in California and Nevada. Each regional office chose how and where to allocate available resources with an emphasis on donating to HomeAid shelters.
In San Diego, the company will be making the season bright for five families needing extra help this year with gifts of clothing, toys, gift cards and other necessities. This annual adopt-a-family tradition has grown to include many families and has become a very special time for the employees who participate. "Most of us who participate have been doing this for a very long time, as much as 18 to 20 years." said Trisha Humphrey, a sales representative for Pardee Homes. "This program fit in perfectly with the new Holiday Giving program that has replaced our traditional company holiday parties. Everything we do to get ready, from making the lists to the shopping and hours spent wrapping, puts us all in the spirit of the season."
In addition to the adopt-a-family donations, Pardee Homes also participated in the BIA Cares Holiday Bike Drive, by providing bikes and helmets for ten underprivileged children in San Diego County. This annual event, sponsored by the Building Industry Association of San Diego, is in its 15th year.
According to Beth Fischer, division president for Pardee Homes' San Diego region,
the 2010 holiday giving program has been a bright spot in a challenging year, allowing employees to celebrate the spirit of the season and the company's on-going commitment to supporting the communities in which we build. "In today's difficult economic times, giving up our traditional holiday celebration to help those less fortunate seemed the right thing to do," said Fischer.
Pardee's Inland Empire division is helping Olive Crest Children's Ranch in Perris which provides housing for abused and neglected at risk children and their families. See http://www.homeaid.org. and http://www.olivecrest.org.
In Pardee Homes' LA/Ventura region, recipients are Carousel Ranch in Santa Clarita, which provides therapeutic riding programs for the disabled, and RAIN Project Transitional Living Center in Camarillo which provides housing and training for independent living. In Las Vegas, the help is for The Shade Tree shelter for homeless and abused women and children in crisis. See http://www.carouselranch.org and http://www.theshadetree.org.
Established in 1921, Pardee Homes is active in California's San Diego, Inland Empire, and Los Angeles/Ventura markets, and in Las Vegas. The company emphasizes master-planned communities that include schools, parks and preserved open space, and is noted for quality construction, customer service and dedication to the educational and civic goals of the communities in which it builds.
