Jay Nolan Community Services Offers Groundbreaking Webinars on "Developing Healthy Sexuality" and "Making A Successful Transition from High School to Adult Life"

Jay Nolan Community Services, the largest provider of individualized services for people with autism and other developmental disabilities in California, continues its 2011 Webinar Series with nationally recognized leaders in the field autism advocacy and social growth for persons with disabilities. Sponsored by JNCS' Training and Resource Center, the Webinars are specifically designed to enhance the knowledge base and skill sets of direct support professionals, service providers, special educators, parents, advocates and self-advocates.

The first Webinar, titled "Skill Sets For Developing Healthy Sexual and Social Lives," will be presented by Jay Nolan Community Services on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, across the country at: 10am to 12pm (PST), 11am to 1pm (MST), 12pm to 2pm (CST) and 1pm to 3pm (EST). The cost is 75 dollars per person and early registration is recommended.

Monica J. Foster, CC, is Chief Motivational Officer (CMO) of BUTTERFLYWHEEL Motivation and Advocacy & Consulting (www.butterflywheel.com). As a certified life coach, peer mentor, disabilities advocate, trainer and motivational speaker, she avidly works to help people with disabilities maximize their self-esteem, achieve greater independence and seek richer human relationships. Foster will offer the skill sets and the tools to help direct support staff, parents as well as self-advocates develop and customize sexuality education to the level suitable for the individual adult being supported. Well-rounded education is the key: teaching adults with autism or other developmental disabilities the necessary facts and skills to develop self-worth, friendship and loving relationships.

The second Webinar, titled "Transition from High School to an Enviable Adult Life:
Setting the Stage for Success," will be presented by Jay Nolan Community Services on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, across the country at: 10am to 12pm (PST), 11am to 1pm (MST), 12pm to 2pm (CST) and 1pm to 3pm (EST). The cost is 55 dollars per person for the Webinar, 70 dollars per person to include two CEUs (MFT and LCSW). Click HERE to register.

Dr. Mary Schuh has more than 20 years of experience in inclusive schools and communities. She teaches courses on Introduction to Exceptionality and Educating Students with Disabilities in High School at the University of New Hampshire, and has consulted extensively in the United States, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the United Kingdom on issues related to supporting students with disabilities and their families in typical school and community environments. Dr. Schuh will explore innovative models for future planning and youth leadership for high school students presented with a focus on strategies for inclusion in high school and transition to an adult life of possibility. Understanding the rationale for inclusive high school experiences, as well as innovative models for transition planning and concrete strategies to support positive outcomes for students with disabilities are also topics covered by her presentation.
