Drop Down Deals Pledges Up to $1 Million to U.S. Fund for UNICEF Japan Emergency Relief

Tech Start-Up to Donate $1 for Every New User of Its Free Plug-In, Up To $1 Million

2011-03-24
SAN DIEGO, CA, March 24, 2011 (Press-News.org) Drop Down Deals LLC, creators of a free downloadable browser add-on that is the simplest and most complete way to save money while shopping online, today pledged its support to help those affected by the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The San Diego-based technology start-up, which launched the plug-in in November 2010 and now has more than two million daily active users, is pledging $1 for every new download, up to $1 million. The donation will be made to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF's Japan Disaster Fund, an emergency program to help the children of Japan.

"We're a young company but our plug-in has been so well received in its first few months that we're fortunate to be able to make a donation of this size," said Aaron Mendes, CEO of Drop Down Deals. "Giving back is important to our team, especially when you see the scope of the devastation in Japan. We're thrilled to help make a difference and look forward to offering individuals here in the U.S. not only the opportunity to experience the savings our Drop Down Deals plug-in can offer, but also to have a way to help the cause, even if they are not in a position to make a monetary donation on their own."

Drop Down Deals provides consumers with highly relevant coupons, deals, discounts and savings for an online merchant while the user is shopping on that site. The plug-in is easily downloadable at no cost to the user and, with approval from Norton AntiVirus, McAfee SECURE , BBB and CNET, it's the simplest, most complete and trusted source for coupons and other deals.

New users can download the free plug-in and have a dollar donated on their behalf at the company's relief website: http://www.dropdowndeals.com/aid. The final donation, totaling up to $1 million, will support relief efforts in Japan through the U.S. Fund for UNICEF's Japan Disaster Fund.

Japan is usually a donor to UNICEF, not a recipient of its assistance. However, due to the unprecedented nature of the epic disaster and its impact on children, resources are going to be critical in helping provide for the very unique needs of children. These may include health, development and protection and other needs that may have been compromised or disrupted in the wake of catastrophe.

To download the free Drop Down Deals plug-in and have a $1 donation pledged on your behalf, visit http://www.dropdowndeals.com/aid.
