ParknPool's Operations Manager Highlighted In National Magazine

ParknPool Operations Manager Jason O'Mahony was featured in the February 2011 issue of The Association for Operations Management Magazine. With the help of APICS resources O'Mahony was able to drastically reduce shipping costs.

2011-03-24
LEXINGTON, VA, March 24, 2011 (Press-News.org) Jason O'Mahony, Operations Manager for ParknPool, was featured in the January/February 2011 issue of APICS Magazine. APICS, The Association for Operations Management is an organization with an abundance of information and resources in operations management including logistics and purchasing. With the help of APICS resources O'Mahony was able to drastically reduce shipping costs for ParknPool, especially on some of the trickier, heavier items to ship, such as grandstands, bleachers and concrete tables. APICS Magazine features a "Membership Matters" column in every issue which focuses on an individual member and how their APICS membership has affected their career.

ParknPool, based in Lexington, VA, is one of the leading original online suppliers of commercial outdoor furniture and site amenities whose products range from picnic tables and benches to bleachers and grandstands.

As ParknPool continues to grow, so does the size and difficulty of some of the items that need to be shipped. O'Mahony explains that "when we began to incorporate bleachers into our product line of outdoor furniture I was prepared for the challenges such a different product would present us... mostly because I had seen it before, through APICS."

O'Mahony has been successful in drastically lowering shipping costs for ParknPool throughout North America. Due to the tools and recourses provided by APICS, O'Mahony also found cost effective ways to ship internationally, in particular on the larger items, such as bleachers or grandstands.
O'Mahony came to ParknPool three years ago as a member of the sales department; however after finding ways to lower shipping expenses for ParknPool, he was promoted to Logistics Manager. "APICS has been a great catalyst to my personal career growth," he states. "The tools, information and opportunity to network among experienced professionals in my field acted as an accelerant to the pace my career was on." His most recent promotion to Operations Manager was due to his success in the logistics field and the knowledge gained through APICS, which gave him, as he states, "an understanding of supply chains beyond the scope of our current business needs."

O'Mahonys' APICS membership has aided him throughout his career at ParknPool and continues to prepare him for whatever challenges he may face next. He states that the "APICS 'Operations Management Body of Knowledge' resource is a vital asset for any business."
