Wine and Design Announces Opening of First Franchise Studio in Jamestown

Company hopes to attract Triad customers with unique wine and painting party concept

2011-04-20
JAMESTOWN, NC, April 20, 2011 (Press-News.org) Building on its current success and popularity, Wine and Design is opening its third location in Jamestown at 121 East Main Street. This new location is the company's first franchise and will be operated by Jenny Ragsdale. Wine and Design Triad will target prospective customers in High Point, Winston-Salem, Burlington, and Greensboro.

Wine and Design first opened its doors in Raleigh in April 2010 as the dream of longtime friends and business partners Emmy Preiss and Harriet Mills. The wine/painting party concept was a first in the Triangle and has proven so popular, that Preiss and Mills recently opened a second location in Wilmington. Like the other two locations, the Jamestown studio will offer a two-hour painting class at a cost starting at $35 per person.

Wine and Design provides the canvas, cover-up, paints, paintbrushes, and corkscrew and attendees provide a beverage of his or her choosing. First-time painters, aspiring artists, or self-proclaimed pro's browse the studio's website to find a painting they would like to replicate. Sessions are led by local artists that guide participants through a carefully-orchestrated, step-by-step process that promises a finished "masterpiece" at the end of the two-hour session. Ragsdale says that she has known Mills for a few years and thought the idea of a wine and painting party business was a fun idea. After Ragsdale's second child was born, it was her husband who brought the franchise opportunity to her attention.

"The concept of being able to sit down and create your own painting in just two hours, while having a glass of wine alongside friends, was a unique idea that was fun," says Ragsdale. "I loved the fact that this business allowed for a fun night out without costing a fortune."

Ragsdale said that Jamestown is the ideal spot for a Wine and Design location since the city sits right in the middle of the Triad (the area within and surrounding the three major cities of Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point). She says Jamestown has a great downtown that "has all of the conveniences of a big city with the charm of a small, southern town".

Wine and Design Triad is planning to mirror the format of its parent studio by offering date nights, hosting fundraisers, providing kid-friendly classes, and booking private parties. Ragsdale said that she will also be offering clients several "regional" paintings that celebrate the area including renditions of Wait Chapel and Reynolda House in Winston-Salem, the World's Largest Chest of Drawers in High Point, the Big Chair in Thomasville, Mendenhall House and the Jamestown Public Library in Jamestown, and Castle McCullough, Battleground Park, and Blandwood Mansion in Greensboro.

Wine and Design Triad will be open Wednesday thru Saturday from 2:00PM to 9:00PM and will be open on other days to accommodate private parties. The studio is planning to host two Open House events: Friday, May 13th from 6:00PM to 9:00PM and Saturday, May 14th from 2:00PM to 5:00PM. Friday's event will feature a live painting class, door prizes, and catering. The event on Saturday will cater more to families with a kid-friendly painting and menu.

Wine and Design Jamestown is now accepting reservations for May and June sessions. To view available paintings and to register online, visit http://www.wineanddesignnc.com and choose "Jamestown" under the Location tab. For additional information, call (336) 202-7448.
