Sims sponsored the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate Golf Tournament for the second time.

2011-04-20
AWENDAW, SC, April 20, 2011 (Press-News.org) For the second year, Sims Recycling Solutions sponsored the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate Golf Tournament. The seventh annual tournament brought together 15 NCAA Division I top ranked golf teams and 5 of the top 25 college ranked college golfers in the United States to participate in a three day tournament. This is the only college golf tournament linked with any rock band. The rock band associated is Hootie and the Blow Fish.

Hootie, more commonly known as Darius Rucker, lent his name to the tournament in 2004 and has continued to stay greatly involved ever since. The sponsorship proceeds from the tournament go to the Hootie and the Blow Fish Foundation which benefits primary education for school children in South Carolina.

Steve Skurnac, present of Sims Recycling Solutions, reports "We are proud to continue our sponsorship of such an exceptional golf tournament in such a unique setting. It is a privilege to support the educational efforts of Hootie and the Blow Fish and to be associated with the only sport where the players are relied upon to enforce the rules of the game."

The Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate Golf Tournament is hosted by the Bulls Bay Golf Club and features some of the best collegiate golf programs in the country. This event always features a private concert by the band Hootie and the Blowfish, celebrating the participants and event sponsors. Hootie and the Blowfish is an American Rock band with seven albums including one currently holding the record as the 15th best selling album of all time in the US that went platinum 16 times.

The team from LSU won the tournament and Michael Sutton of North Carolina State University was the low individual medalist of the Hootie.
