Longworth, Senior Fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, author of Caught in the Middle: America's Heartland in the Age of Globalism will be the featured speaker at "Seeds of Change," on Wednesday, June 8, 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, 975 N. Warson Road. The event will be hosted by members of the Danforth Plant Science Center's Leadership Council, a diverse group of regional leaders dedicated to making St. Louis a world center for plant science. Following his remarks, Longworth will be joined by a response panel for a thought provoking discussion of the region's efforts to reinvent itself in the new global economy. Panelists include, John F. McDonnell, retired chairman, McDonnell Douglas; Denny G. Coleman, CEO St. Louis Economic Council; Derek K. Rapp, CEO, Divergence, Inc.; and Jack L. Oliver III, chairman, Bryan Cave Strategies.

Richard Longworth is a senior fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and former Distinguished Visiting Scholar at DePaul University. He is the author of the book, Caught in the Middle: America's Heartland in the Age of Globalism, published in 2008 by Bloomsbury USA, now out in paperback. He writes and hosts the blog, "The Midwesterner," on the website of the Chicago Council's Global Midwest Initiative, at http://www.globalchicago.org.
