SOUTHFIELD, MI, May 19, 2011 (Press-News.org) An infographic on student bullying in the United States was recently created by the Michigan personal injury lawyers of Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. The infographic was created to display the facts and statistics about student bullying. Student bullying in schools in the United States is a serous issue and very prevalent in our school systems. Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. is a Southfield law firm that specializes in representing parents and their children who are being bullied in Michigan schools by actively pursing lawsuits in several cases for parents and children who are being bullied in Michigan schools.
The definition of bullying is physical, verbal, or psychological attacks or intimidation against a person who cannot properly defend himself or herself. It includes two key components: 1. Repeated harmful acts 2. Imbalance of power. In fact, one out of four students will be abused by another youth, and one out of five admits to being a bully, or doing some "bullying."
Michigan is one of the only states to not have bullying laws. However, even thought the majority of states have bullying laws on the books, most are not significant enough to impact this problem or reduce the amount of bullying that occurs nationwide. Without more stringent laws and the actual enforcement of those laws, school systems will not feel the pressure to take the affirmative measures necessary to eliminate the bullying problem that terrorizes so many innocent and vulnerable children everyday.
