The Dinosaur Place Named Best of New England

Nature's Art: The Dinosaur Place in Oakdale, CT is recognized as "Best Prehistoric Play" by Yankee Magazine.

2012-05-23
OAKDALE, CT, May 23, 2012 (Press-News.org) Nature's Art: The Dinosaur Place, (1650 Hartford-New London Turnpike) has been recognized as a 2012 Editor's Choice for "Best Prehistoric Play" in Yankee Magazine's recently released Travel Guide to New England.

"We are honored to be recognized by Yankee Magazine for all that our unique environment offers, especially our commitment to prehistoric fun," shares Linda Phillips, owner of Nature's Art: The Dinosaur Place. "For 11 years, we have sought to provide a family-focused learning experience that offers many options to do and discover, in one campus."

While recognized by Yankee Magazine for features such as the 30 life-sized dinosaurs nested among 60 acres of walking trails, more than 50,000 visitors arrive at The Dinosaur Place each year to enjoy the largest splash pad in New England; get lost in a two story maze; and explore a super sized playscape nearly as tall as... well...a brachiosaurus.

When the weather calls for indoor fun Nature's Art: The Dinosaur Place doesn't disappoint. A 12,000 sq ft retail center offers something for everyone including: a genuine indoor mine — where hidden crystals wait to be unearthed; a running creek — where old-time panning techniques reveal gold; a prehistoric "dig" site — where life-sized dinosaur bones are carefully exposed using real scientific techniques; and a craft center — where you can make art from natural ingredients or cut a Geode open to discover the art that nature made for you.

While everyone takes home great memories from their visit, the unique collection of shops also on campus offer one-of-a-kind jewelry; quality and educational toys; gemstones and fossils; beads and finishings; as well as mementos and collectibles that are rare to find in one common location.

"This recognition by Yankee Magazine is well timed with our increased efforts to better convey all that Nature's Art: The Dinosaur Place has to offer," concludes Linda. "We've been discovered by this national publication, and we hope that others will follow. Bring the family — find the fun. Rain or shine, heat wave or sweater weather, we've got everyone covered with outdoor fun, indoor activities and our award-winning shops."
